Cow dream plastic
PLASTIC ATTACK -also referred to as Statement VI- is a sound illustration of what the collective can achieve, using challenging textiles as a creative start. An ambitious and transitory concept, PLASTIC ATTACK incorporates controversy within the design process itself: “We are fascinated with plastic and its polemical aspects. Still, we wanted to envisage it in a subtle and artisanal way, upcycling discarded bags, which were patiently layered over 12 different styles. Since the design of each jacket was going to be the same, we imposed ourselves a specific framework, which forced us to find creative solutions.”
The items offered within the line are hybrids themselves, referencing ubiquitous denim jackets and fusing them with padded ski wear. The jackets are unisex and generously sized, transcending body shape and gender limitations. Through an intricate combination of plastic pieces, each jacket features a series of unique patterns, which are reminiscent of Swiss postcards and iconography.
The beauty of each jacket also lies in the idea that the plastic layers dissolve over time, until one gets to the backbone -or skeleton- of the clothing. Isn’t the appeal of fashion its ephemeral side? What’s left is the intricate value of the piece itself, and its precise architecture. Tackling the delicate issues of textile waste and consumption excess, as well as the moral choices that define who we are, PLASTIC ATTACK adds a poetic dimension to universal clothes, celebrating the fleeting nature of an industry that we all love to hate.
